Belt Testing dates and information for 2012.
Please read all information below! Belt Progression and Advancement information listed below
as well.
When belt testing, it is up to the student to test. If we say “no” they cannot test then we could be holding them back and if we say “yes” they should test then, we could be setting them up for failure.
So it is the student’s fate when they test. The student needs to know their test requirements that is listed on the Test Requirements form (and on this page) as well as their rules (and virtues if
applicable) for their belt test. Students that are 10 and older need to write the test, while 9 and under
can recite them. For Yellow belt, the student needs to know the first 5 rules. For orange belt, they need to know rules 1-9 and for blue belt, they need to know all the rules. For the next belt the student must know all rules and the first 5 virtues, for purple belt, all the rules and virtues. By this point you will
know well in advance what you will need to know in regards to the written test.
All Belt Testers Need To Do their Pre-Test (rules/virtues) the week of the test and NOT the day of the test. If the student doesn't know their rules and/or virtues that are required then, they cannot test until they learn them. If there are difficulties with this then please let us know.
If a student’s fails a belt test then they can test on the next available test a no charge. If a student receives a fair or poor in any category then they will be put on probation until they can prove that they know that particular part of the test.
Blue belt and higher must turn in their assisting hours to Sensei Green the day of the test. Blue belt
and higher have to have 18 hours of assisting, then 24 for the next belt, then 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, 42 hours and 45 hour for black belt. Half of assisting hours needs to be assisting while the other half needs to
be helping keep the dojo clean and in good condition.
Please register by the 10th of the month for the belt test held at the end of the month. If you register
after this date then they will have to wait for the next available test. This will make it much easier on everybody and will help us stay organized. The belt testing dates are listed below for the entire year. Some belt test dates are on Friday and some are on Saturday. If the test is on a Saturday then there is no regular scheduled classes (10A.M. to 1P.M.) on this day. If the test is on Friday's then there are no Classes held this day.
